- Jesus Christ commissioned his disciples to "make disciples of all nations, teaching them..." Matt 28:18-20.
- Historically many churches have used programs to do this, and I personally have benefited greatly from Campus Crusade and other discipling programs.
- Today most Christians are so busy it is very hard to arrange study groups.
- People are also very hesitant to commit to programs.
- So we must use adhoc 1-1 mentoring to achieve the same goal of teaching and discipling.
- Just catch up over coffee as you normally do, but add more intentionality and input.
- Care for the person, and also where appropriate provide "1 pager" input on 2 areas: spiritual growth, the person's mission and leadership of others.
- This site will have hundreds of topics in these two areas with 1 page of points to teach and relevant resources.
- This follows St Paul's approach in 2 Tim 2:2 "And the things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men*, who will be able to teach others also." (* or women. St Paul was writing to St Timothy but the same applies to women, for example St Thekla who was St Paul's disciple taught many women). This is a great verse to memorise.
